To a Wild Rose, from Woodland Sketches, op. 51 no. 1 (string trio)
Title: To a Wild Rose, from Woodland Sketches, op. 51 no. 1
Composer: Edward MacDowell, arr. David Gable
Instrumentation: Violin 1; Violin 2 or Viola; Cello
Printout: 4 pages
Note: This gem was initially written as a morning warm-up and discarded. We are indebted to the composer’s wife for rescuing it from the fireplace and persuading him to complete it. This arrangement includes alternative parts for violin 2 and viola. The first violin part goes rather high for oboe but works well on flute.
To a Wild Rose is also available for string quartet.
