Marche pour Nerée, from Cephale et Procris (string trio)

$3.99

Title: Marche pour Nerée, from the opera Cephale et Procris

Composer: Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre, arr. David Gable

Instrumentation: Violin 1; Violin 2/Viola; Cello

Printout: 4 pages

Note: As was customary at the time, Cephale et Procris begins with a Prologue, in which various mythological figures sang the praises of the king (in this case, Louis XIV of France). This march introduces Nereus, a minor Greek sea god, who sings the expected adulations. The march has a bright yet noble character and is a favorite with wedding couples who are looking for something with a traditional feel, but also somewhat out of the ordinary.

Other prologue music is available (in performance order): Ouverture; Rondeau; Passepied et Duo; (Marche pour Nerée); Loure et Chanson; Gigue

This publication includes alternative parts for both violin 2 and viola.
