March from Scipione (string trio)

Title: March, from the opera Scipione

Composer: G. F. Handel

Instrumentation: Violin, Violin 2/Viola, Cello

Printout: 4 pages

Note: The full name of this Handel opera, Publio Cornelio Scipione, is generally rendered as either “Scipione” or “Scipio”. Popular as a wedding processional, the march from Scipio has particular appeal to those who like the usual material but want something different. This setting includes alternative parts for both violin 2 and viola. The violin 1 part can be played on flute or oboe by taking first two measures up an octave.
