Va Pensiero (Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves), from Nabucco (string trio – 2 violins and cello)
Title: Va Pensiero (Chorus of the Hebrew Slaves) from the opera Nabucco
Composer: Giuseppe Verdi, arr. David Gable
Instrumentation: Two Violins and Cello
Printout: 5 pages
Note: Va Pensiero is one of Verdi’s most beautiful choruses, and it moved his audiences so much that the throngs of people lining the streets as his funeral cortege passed through Milan spontaneously began singing it to express their grief. In this setting the cello plays the opening choral theme.
Va Pensiero is also available in a trio arrangement for violin, viola and cello. Click here.
