Sellinger’s Round (string trio)

Title: Sellinger’s Round

Composer: traditional, after a setting by William Byrd, arr. David Gable

Instrumentation: Violin; Violin 2/Viola; Cello

Printout: 4 pages

Note: William Byrd was a Catholic composer who worked in Protestant Elizabethan England. He had an abiding interest in English folk songs and dance music, arranging many such pieces for the virginal, a Renaissance era keyboard instrument. Sellinger’s Round, a traditional dance tune, fits well into an early music or baroque performance set.
