Note: This march is the opening instrumental number of the Jacquet de La Guerre’s divertissement pastoral, The Musette, or the Shepherds of Suresne, which was published and premiered in 1713. Jacquet de La Guerre was one of the few women composers of the baroque era and was highly successful in producing music for the stage. A virtuoso performer on the harpsichord, she also wrote prolifically for that instrument.
