Marche, from Cephale et Procris (cello duo)

Title: Marche, from the opera Cephale et Procris

Composer: Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre, arr. David Gable

Instrumentation: Two Cellos

Printout: 2 pages

Note: If Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre broke seventeenth century societal norms by being a composer and a virtuoso performer on the harpsichord, she also broke musical norms by writing music like this march with six bar phrases. This work makes an excellent wedding march for those who like the traditional baroque sound but want something different.

The March from Cephale et Procris, arranged for two cellos, is also available in the Bargain Bundle Operatic Marches of the Baroque (cello duo).
