Indian Queen, The – Symphony and Trumpet Aire (string trio)

$4.29

Title: The Indian Queen– Symphony and Trumpet Aire

Composer: Daniel Purcell, arr. David Gable

Instrumentation: Violin 1, Violin 2 or Viola, Cello

Printout: 4 pages

Note: Henry Purcell died before finishing his semi-opera, The Indian Queen, and it fell to his nephew, Daniel, to complete the score. Though he lacked his uncle’s experience, Daniel was nevertheless a talented composer, and his music for this opera was his springboard to a highly successful career in musical theater. These two little gems are from Act V. The vivacious Symphony is followed by the elegant and cheery Trumpet Aire. Short and sweet, they are perfect for extending a baroque set or prelude. The audio sample includes the beginning of both pieces.
