Gymnopédie No. 2 (string trio)

Title: Gymnopédie No. 2

Composer: Erik Satie, arr. David Gable

Instrumentation: Violin; Violin 2 or Viola; Cello

Printout: 4 pages

Note: Satie’s three Gymnopedies date from 1890. He borrowed the title from an Ancient Greek dance. Always expressing mood over form, Satie used a pulsating rhythmic obstinate and oscillating chords to create a mesmerizing sound.

Satie’s Gymnopédie No. 3 is also available arranged for string trio.
