Note: One of MacDowell’s most celebrated compositions, To a Wild Rose was initially discarded by the composer and retrieved from the fireplace by his wife, who persuaded him to finish and publish it. This setting for viola/cello duet is suitable for many uses, including weddings and anniversaries, for which the piece is often requested.
