Spring dance, from Nummedal (violin duo)

Title: Spring dance, from Nummedal

Composer: Edvard Grieg, arr. David Gable

Instrumentation: Two Violins

Printout: 2 pages

Note: Nummedal (currently spelled “Numedal”) is a valley in eastern Norway. Grieg set this traditional dance in his Lyric Pieces for piano. A “spring dance” in Scandinavia has nothing to do with the season, but refers instead to the jumping or springing steps involved in particular dances.
