Title: Samba Lelé
Composer: traditional Brazilian children’s song, arr. David Gable
Instrumentation: Cello and Piano
Printout: 3 pages
Note: This setting of a familiar children’s song has a variation in which the piano plays the melody and the cello inserts “sound effects” at the end of alternate measures. These effects are both fun and instructional, as they involve octave harmonics and non-standard bowing techniques (which develop bow facility).
Skills: G Major; 2/4 time; syncopations and off-beats; accents; staccato; harmonics; pizzicato; ricochet; rolled arpeggios; bow crunch; playing below the bridge.
