$3.99
Title: Marche in D, from the opera Céphale et Procris
Composer: Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre, arr. David Gable
Instrumentation: Violin; Violin 2/Viola; Cello
Printout: 4 pages
Note: French biographer Évrard Titon du Tillet, in his Le Parnasse françois, places Élisabeth Jacquet de La Guerre alongside Marin Marais in importance to the French musical scene of his time. She was a celebrated virtuoso performer on the harpsichord, widely recognized for her improvisational skills, and she was also a composer of note, writing chiefly operas, harpsichord works, and chamber music.
The original score indicates only the treble and bass lines, but a middle voice has been provided in this setting to complete the harmonies. The violin 1 part can be performed on flute, oboe or trumpet.
