Note: Mozart’s final and perhaps greatest opera, The Magic Flute receives as much attention today as it did in the 1790s. The March of the Priests is heard in Act I, and is a majestic yet serene composition. Although Mozart’s scoring gives the melody to violins and flutes in octaves, the music is well suited to the sonority of duo cellos.
