La Paloma (The Dove) (string trio)

$5.99

Title: La Paloma (The Dove)

Composer: Sebastian Yradier, arr. David Gable

Instrumentation: Violin; Violin 2/Viola; Cello

Printout: 8 pages

Note: Though Yradier died relatively forgotten in 1865, during much of his lifetime he was well known as a composer of tangos and habaneras. La Paloma is a habanera, the dance form from which tango was derived. One of Yradier’s songs, El Arreglito, was used in the opera Carmen by Georges Bizet, who mistakenly thought it to be a folk melody. La Paloma is perhaps the most widely familiar tune in its genre.
