Note: In the 1803 publication of Cartier’s L’Arte du Violon there is a section marked “Les caracteres de la chasse par differents auteurs” which includes a complete sonata for violin and continuo by a composer identified only as “LeBlanc.” This is the second movement of the sonata. The middle voice (which fills three roles: dividing double stops from the solo line; paralleling the solo line; and filling out the continuo harmonies) has been added.
