Dance of the Tumblers, from The Snow Maiden – Tchaikovsky (violin duo)

$3.99

Title: Dance of the Tumblers, from the incidental music to The Snow Maiden

Composer: P. I. Tchaikovsky, arr. David Gable

Instrumentation: Violin 1; Violin 2

Printout: 4 pages

Note: Tchaikovsky’s 1873  incidental music to Alexander Ostrovsky’s play The Snow Maiden, op. 12, is not to be confused with Rimsky-Korsakov’s opera of the same name. The latter work was based on Ostrovsky’s play and written less than a decade later. Ostrovsky’s play was panned by critics, who complained about its reliance on a fairy-tale, but Tchaikovsky’s music was a hit.
