Almand (violin duo)
Composer: Henry Purcell, arr. David Gable
Instrumentation: Violin 1; Violin 2
Printout: 2 pages
Note: We all know that baroque sets can get a bit tedious when you have to rely on the usual material, and this little gem will breathe fresh air into your repertoire. Like many of Purcell’s harpsichord pieces, it is equally well suited for strings. It’s also an excellent piece for student duos. The first violin part lies well on either flute or oboe.
