Chopin – Two Preludes for Violin and Viola (violin viola duo)

Title: Chopin – Two Preludes for Violin and Viola

Composer: Frederic Chopin, arr. David Gable

Instrumentation: Violin and Viola

Printout; 3 pages, including cover

Note: These two short preludes from op. 28 are as different as can be. No. 7, in A Major, is whimsically lyrical, like the memory of a childhood summer, while no. 20, in C minor, is dark and threateningly ponderous. Commonly known as “the chord prelude”, no. 20 is also sometimes referred to as “the funeral prelude”. It has been set with double stops throughout to preserve the rich harmonies.

Prelude in A Major
