Brahms’ Waltz, op. 39 no. 15 (violin/cello duo)

Title: Brahms’ Waltz, op. 39 no. 15

Composer: Johannes Brahms, arr. David Gable

Instrumentation: Violin and Cello

Printout: 2 pages

Note: Although Brahms wrote many waltzes, op. 39 no. 15 has the distinction of being referred to as The Brahms Waltz. Brahms gave no tempo indication for this waltz; presumably he felt it was self-evident. The violin part in this setting can be played on flute with slight modifications, and on oboe by taking the last section down an octave.

For a beautiful set of short lyric pieces, try performing the St Anthony Chorale with the Brahms Lullaby and the St Anthony Chorale.
