Level 0.5 (vcl)

Level 0.5 repertoire is suitable for beginners. Melodic patterns are tonal and easy to understand. Rhythm patterns are simple and similar to those found in other beginning level repertoire. They serve well as supplemental solos that reinforce and provide extra practice for students using Suzuki vol. 1.

Special attention has been given to selecting material that is imaginative and engaging and represents a variety of world cultures.

Many of these selections are key-compatible with the violin and viola versions. These may be performed using any combination of violins, violas, and/or cellos to provide beginners with an opportunity to experience playing chamber music.

These pieces also are excellent for students practicing music reading, and as solos they are particularly appealing to children because of their imaginative settings.
