Note: Torna a Surriento (come back to Sorrento) was composed in 1894 and reworked in 1902 to commemorate the visit of Italian Prime Minister Giuseppe Zanardelli to Sorrento. Its beautiful melody is enhanced by evocative shifts between major and minor modes. This setting includes alternative middle parts for violin 2 and viola. The cello part extends to two pages for ease of reading.
