Note: Gossec was a supporter of the revolutionary faction in France and wrote much music in praise of the revolution and its espoused egalitarianism. Needless to say, his music fell into disfavor with the restoration of the monarchy under Louis XVIII. This tambourin is one of Gossec’s best known compositions.
