Beastly Counterpoint (SAB Chorus)

This Renaissance era piece has always been a hit with middle school choruses. It begins with a cheery “la-la-la” refrain that could have come straight from a madrigal, the launches into a series of animal calls sung over a chant-like bass  line with mock Latin text. The madrigal character returns at the end.  The anonymous composer clearly had an ironic sense of humor.
