Note: These two dances (TMA 27 and TMA 31) make an excellent pair even though there is no reason to think they would have been performed together in Praetorius’s time. The lilting rhythms and G minor/B-flat Major/G Major cross relations in the Spagnoletta create interesting colors, and the energetic La Canarie provides a rousing finish. The first violin part can be played on flute or oboe.
