Something Doing, A Ragtime Two-step (string quartet)

$5.99

Title: Something Doing, A Ragtime Two-step

Composer: Scott Joplin and Scott Hayden, arr. David Gable

Instrumentation: Violin 1; Violin 2; Viola; Cello

Printout: 4 pages

Note: This piece is a gem. First published in 1903, it is full of asymmetrical figures, melodic leaps, and sixteenth note lines that run between voices. Scott Hayden (1882 – 1915) was a friend of Joplin’s who collaborated with the “King of Ragtime writers” on four compositions, then started an original work which was incomplete at his untimely death at the age of 33.
