March in D, from Cephale et Procris (viola cello duo)

Title: March in D, from the opera Cephale et Procris

Composer: Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre, arr. David Gable

Instrumentation: Viola and Cello

Printout: 2 pages

Note: At a time when women were actively discouraged from careers of any kind, let alone the performing arts, Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre made a name for herself both as a virtuoso performer on the harpsichord and as a composer. This march, from one of her few surviving opera scores, is ideal as a wedding processional and is an excellent choice for clients who like the traditional baroque marches but want something unique.
