Note: The Planets is perhaps Holst’s best known composition, and this hymn-like theme from Jupiter is a favorite. Often requested for weddings, it is suitable for other occasions as well, including light concert performance. In this arrangement, the theme starts in the viola, moves to violin 2 and then violin 1. The piece ends with the two violins in octaves and the viola playing double stops to enrich the texture.
