Galop, from A Voyage to the Moon (violin cello duo)

Title: Galop, from the opera A Voyage to the Moon

Composer: Jacques Offenbach, arr. David Gable

Instrumentation: Violin and Cello

Printout: 4 pages

Note: During his life-time, as today, Offenbach was celebrated as a composer of light opera. A Voyage to the Moon, which is loosely based on a novel by Jules Verne, is an opéra-féerie, or “fairy-tale opera.” The Galop is the rousing conclusion to the overture and is a sure crowd pleaser.

The violin part in this arrangement can be played on flute with modifications of double stops and tremolos.
