Note: Susato was a prominent figure in the musical world of the sixteenth century: a composer, publisher and musicologist. This dance features one of his favorite devices – transforming a theme from duple to triple meter. A variation such as might have been extemporized by period performers has been added to round off the setting. Danza de Hércules is a delightful piece for either background music or light concert use.
