Note: In Handel’s oratorio Judas Maccabaeus, this majestic tune celebrates the return of the triumphant Judeans to the city. It is an excellent march for wedding processionals or recessionals. It is also sometimes referred to as “Chorus from Judas Maccabaeus.” In the oratorio it is followed directly by a stately march. The first violin part can be played on flute, oboe or trumpet.
