Note: Written around 1850, the habanera La Paloma (The Dove) was destined to become a world-wide sensation, but sadly not before the composer’s death in 1865. Even today, a century and a half later, La Paloma remains a classic of the genre. The violin part is playable on flute or oboe by omitting a few double stops.
