Note: Unlike most compositions of the same or similar titles, this Evening Song is no bucolic idyll. Driving syncopations underlie a soaring slavic melody. Nevertheless, the piece works well for receptions and parties when mixed with other similar but less intense works, such as Brahms’ Hungarian Dances and Dvorak’s Slavonic Dances.
