Barcarolle (Belle nuit) from The Tales of Hoffman (string trio – 2 violins and cello)

$3.99

Title: Barcarolle (Belle nuit) from the opera The Tales of Hoffman

Composer: Jacques Offenbach, arr. David Gable

Instrumentation: Two Violins and Cello

Printout: 3 pages

Note: This duet is for many opera lovers the high point of Offenbach’s The Tales of Hoffman (Les contes d’Hoffmann). In this arrangement, the primary melodic theme is given to the second violin, which is joined by the cello for the contrapuntal section of the duet. The first violin carries the arpeggiated harp accompaniment. The second violin part, though low, is playable on flute or oboe.

An arrangement of the Barcarolle for string trio of violin, viola and cello is also available. Click here.
