Cumulative Songs
Cumulative songs follow the familiar verse/refrain form, but each refrain repeats the elements of previous refrains, usually in reverse order. Familiar examples of cumulative songs are The Twelve Days of Christmas and Green Grow the Rushes. Cumulative songs are particularly useful teaching tools, as they reinforce memory, sequencing, and other key skills.
