Note: Dating to the time of the French Protestant Reformation, this hymn is a standard in many Protestant churches. Since the original harmonization by Claude Le Jeune (c. 1528 – 1600) put the melody in the tenor, I have given it initially to the lower voice, moving it to the violin for the second strain. The harmonies are based on those of Le Jeune. The violin part may be performed on flute or oboe.
