Note: “Nigun atik” literally translates to “ancient dance.” This music is traditionally used for circle dances at weddings, bar/bat mitzahs, and other celebratory events. Both instruments have a turn with the melody, the violin being accompanied by syncopated rhythms in the cello part, and the cello by a contrapuntal obligato in the violin.
